FOCUS in Florida
Friday, April 23, 2010 at 08:29PM This week I hooked up with some of my favorite female photographers from all over the country in Florida. We all met at a workshop in California at the end of 2008, and each time we get together our relationships are deepened and our hearts become more and more entwined! I love these girls so much and feel so extremely blessed that God, in His infinite wisdom, put us all together for such a time as this. When we get together, we share about our husbands, children, soon to be children, our dreams, aspirations and, of course, photography!
Our time together could not have been any more perfect! The first day in Florida had rain in the forecast so we decided to stay in our pajamas all day and just visit and catch up! It was so relaxing! The second day we drove to Daytona Beach and enjoyed lunch at Bubba Gump's oceanside. We took some photos and then just silently basked in the sun, just enjoying each other's company. And on the final night, Jan prepared an amazing home cooked meal that we sat down and ate together as a family! I'm so thankful for these dear friends. And we are ALL thankful to our husbands and families for allowing us to go!

This was our little retreat. Thanks so much to Meaghan's parents, John and Sharon Soboleski, for sharing their summer home with us! The back of the house was a screened in porch where we opened all the windows and enjoyed an afternoon downpour. So refreshing!

And this is Fang that lives in the pond right outside of the screened in porch. He provided lots of entertainment for us!

Learning new techniques from each other.

Daytona Beach! Have I mentioned? I really want to live on the beach some day?!?

Such a great feeling to get your feet in the sand! Awwwww!

Fang sunbathing, Jan's bag of candy, our gecko from the screened in porch, Prince, & lunch at Bubba Gump's.

Holli, quite possibly, has the most amazing eyes that I have ever photographed. She is so sweet and gives the most fantastic hugs! Holli cranks out over 30 weddings per year and does a fantastic job. She is always the person in charge of figuring out how we can all take home all the images that we have shot during our time together. Poor thing! The last night she is always tediously downloading cards. Holli is based out of Norman, Oklahoma. Check her out here.

Casey is the youngest in our group. She is shy and quiet, but most definitely, a rock star behind the lens. She is very sneaky. She had the Voice Changer App on her iphone and when you would least suspect it, she would record you and then play you back in a chipmunk voice. Casey and her husband, Aric, are a husband and wife photography team based out of Lubbock, Texas. They are still newlyweds. Check out some amazing images from their wedding photographed by Table4Photography. Be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom!! It is sooooooo worth it!

Meaghan is expecting her first baby in September. She was definitely our "Hostess with the Mostest." She tended to our every need and we were so thankful for such a great place to stay. Meaghan is in Catonsville, Maryland and specializes in weddings and portraits. She is so laid back and fun to be around. I can't wait to see her again and hear all of her new mommy stories! Check out her work here.

Janet is also expecting a new bundle of joy set to arrive in early August. Janet is one of those people who you feel like you know just as soon as you meet her. She is so warm and friendly and always has a smile on her face. She specializes in family sessions because that is where her heart is. Check out her site.

Jan, Jan, Jan! Where do I start? She likes her camera, as you can tell by the pictures below, A LOT! Jan was our resident comedian during our trip. She always had us rolling with a quick comeback or some kind of impersonation from MadTV. She is hysterical! I must say one of my favorite moments from the trip was when Meaghan grabbed Jan's leg as she went by because she thought she had white leggings on, but she didn't. It was her bare legs! She is from Durango, Colorado so her poor little legs haven't seen the sun in about 6 months. Her name is Jan Schill, but we like to call her "Jan's Chill!" Check her and her crazy kids out here. She has started a project where you take 300 pictures of your kids and then she blogs about it. Very creative!

Until we meet again!
